In Acts Peter is walking thru the crowd. The peoples, the hurting, the sick, the broken, the malformed and unbalanced, are being brought by believers, lining them up along the path that perhaps his shadow would fall upon them and they be healed. Acts 5:15
Amazing! The idea that the shadow of a man could do such a work! But here it is. Now you and I both know that the shadow of a man has no medicinal or miraculous properties, therefore something else must be going on. Think about it this way…..
Peter is not really doing anything other than walking. But! Where is he walking? In the earth, he is going somewhere. He is probably going to and from the synagogue . Maybe just to the store or home? The text is not totally clear, but what is clear is that he is teaching about Jesus and making disciples. In the spirit, he is going somewhere too, he is going to God. It is along this path that the believers are setting the people. Peter is walking in the light of day, but also in The Light of Christ. In the world, the sun lights a man, shows him a path and casts a shadow. In The Spirit, Peter is walking in The Light of Christ and God and his path is not going somewhere in the visible earth, but rather somewhere in the invisible eternity. In the earth, an obstacle casts a shadow, but in the spirit, it’s The Light of God that casts the shadow, using the man to do it. This is a miracle and example of God using the tangible and visible aspects of creation, the willingness and obedience of a man and crossing into the invisible to do a holy and unseen work thru a man to produce an obvious result seen in the visible nature of creation. It is said that a tree casts a shadow….but I submit to you that it is the sun that casts the shadow. The tree simply obstructs the light. In Peter’s case, he does not obstruct, he becomes a magnifying glass. God casts His Light onto Peter. Peter intentionally walks in The Light of God. His path is shown to him by God. God casts the shadow (can we say The Shadow of Almighty God? Song of Songs 2:3, Ps 36:7 & 63:7) but uses the willing man to do it. Transformation. Invisible to visible. It is God Who does the work, the man simply submits to it Gen 17:1. Peter walks in The Light of God, the shadow is cast by God shining on him as he walks in it and the work of Christ is done by Christ shining in and thru him.
1 John 1:7 (KJV) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
John 1:1-14 (KJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name [was] John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all [men] through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but [was sent] to bear witness of that Light. 9 [That] was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 3:21 (KJV) But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
2 Corinthians 4:6 (KJV) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 21:22-24 (KJV) 22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb [is] the light thereof. 24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
