It’s a Process

So, you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired. Life is hard and it all seems really depressing. No one is getting along and happiness is fleeting. You can’t eat enough, drink enough, smoke enough, the car isn’t nice enough and the house isn’t big enough, you can’t make enough, get enough, do enough or are good enough. And when you think you’ve got enough, you realize how much it cost and you’re depressed all over again. You’ve had enough.
You have an empty that just won’t fill.
But, be of good cheer! There is good news :)
Can you imagine a place where you are free from the law? A place where you can do what you want to do. Where everybody can do what they want to do without upsetting anybody else. A place where we all just get along! A place where enough is what you have. Sounds like a happy place doesn’t it?
There is such a place and it can be you. You can not only be in it, but you can actually be of it....a part of it and it a part of you! But you can’t find it by yourself. You need help and a helper.
You see, your life is a kingdom. That kingdom is governed by warring factions. First, there is you your highness. You want to do what you want to do whenever you want to do it and you want to have whatever you want regardless of whatever or whoever else it disrupts (within reason). And you probably want it now. Then there are other kings, the ones you live with, maybe the neighbor, or the boss, the guy in the lane next to you gesturing madly, all trying to rule your kingdom as a part of their kingdom. What about the government? The police? We won’t even discuss other countries. Oh yeah, then there are your emotions, your physical and mental abilities....didn’t think of those as warring kings did ya? There are just too many kings!
Maybe if there was just one king.....one that everybody was governed by, one that governed rightly and richly toward all. One who respects all without putting any one ahead of another. There is One. That One is Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is the Meek and Lowly One, The One Who builds up, not tears down. The One Who loves unto the giving of His own Life for yours. The One Whose brilliance chases away every darkness. Yet this humble One is the King of all, regardless of what anybody says. He is The Creator of all things and all things are dependent on Him no matter what they think. The only space He does not rule is in the hearts and minds of mankind. He will not force His rule and violate your own will. You can be your own king. This Jesus would be your King if you would just ask. His is a kingdom of peace, a peace that passes all understanding. Though this world, this life, is a strain, allegiance to this King promises a peace. A peace not of this world, but an inner peace that is never ruffled by the turmoil of this day to day struggle. Not only peace, but a lifetime counselor to guide you through it. A Holy Spirit of love, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, patience, trustworthiness, humility and self-control. With these attributes operating at full capacity, what scenario can possibly rile you up, disturb you or set you at odds? What law can you possibly break? What law convicts you? That is peace in your kingdom! Give King Jesus a place, a start, a chance and watch what happens. It’s a process that starts with an election of The King of all kings to the kingdom of your life and it continues all the days of your life and beyond.....forever :)
Romans 12:2 (ASV)
And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Abdicate the throne of your life and return it to The Creator of it, to The King of kings.
William Law: The Spirit of Love
Persons, Things, and outward Occurrences may strike our Instrument improperly, and variously, but as we are in ourselves, such is our outward Sound, whatever strikes us. If our inward State is the renewed Life of Christ within us, then every Thing and Occasion, let it be what it will, only makes the same Life to sound forth, and show itself; then if one Cheek is smitten, we meekly turn the other also. But if [our] Nature is alive and only under a religious Cover, then every outward Accident that shakes or disturbs this Cover, gives Leave to that bad State, whether of Grief, or Wrath, or Joy that lay hid within us, to show forth itself.
