Truth is truth. Not defined by belief but by truth. Truth does not align itself with anything or anybody. Just because a person believes, does not make it true. Belief aligns itself with truth (or untruth) and thereby sets the course of the believer. Jesus Christ states and declares that He is The Truth and also states that He is The Life and The Way (John 14:6), thereby confirming that belief in truth defines life (as opposed to death) and the way to it. To look at this declaration in an opposite direction, it would say; A lie is a lie (oddly enough, a lie is dependent on a truth, whereas a truth stands on its own) and believing in a lie is death and the course of its direction leads to death. A lie can not overcome truth and is ever in opposition to truth. Truth is without submission or apology (another thought here is that in truth alone, there is no tension, peace as it were. However, when opposition to truth, a lie, enters, there is immediately tension and debate. No peace). The truth confirms lies, that they are in fact lies. A lie can never confirm truth, because then it would be forced to submit to it.
Jesus Christ is the Word of God (read John 1:1-18). The implication here is, that Jesus states that He is The Truth. If He is, then it follows that The Word of God is also The Truth. Which leads to this parable (Luke 8:11-12)...
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved”.
All that to say, “Believe on the name (and person) of Jesus Christ and you will be saved” (Acts 16:30-31).
If you want to understand in order to believe, you are trapped by your unbelief. Again I say that your belief will not turn or support the truth. The truth continues to stand on its own merits without respect to your belief or unbelief. All that is asked is that you believe and The Truth will “set you free” (John 8:36).
