Can I See God?

How shall the Lord reveal Himself to yourself and to anyone else?

It’s not that The Lord “wants” to reveal Himself, it’s that it is impossible that He doesn’t. The “seeing” of anyone is based on their desire to “see” Him. The God of creation is evidently visible in creation itself. Because creation exists, it begs the question of “how”? Because the design of creation is intricate and tightly woven together to produce this thing we call life, the human mind says that an intelligence has to be behind it (or not, it could have been an accident! But that line of reasoning goes down the path of not wanting to “see” The Lord or any beginning intelligence). But based on the assumption that there is an intelligence, and that the focus of all creation seems to be designed to support the very life that we are living, it is likely that this intelligence has set up the creation we live in and the life that we have in it for us, and that that intelligence actually knows us and cares for us. After all, if humanity is a part of creation, then we too are created by the same creator of all things.

I will let this rest. The intent of this paper is not to convince that there is a beginning and one who began all things, but to start with that understanding and lean into it. Humanity seems to think that their existence and all of creation is about them.

Psalms 73:28 (KJV) But [it is] good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

This verse (and many others) point to a trust, a faith and a belief in God. Not only as God, but as Father, Creator and a host of other names and titles that sets Him in the highest place of all that humanity can know or think. This God and Father reveals Himself to any who “look” for Him. Who focus their intent to know Him by setting the eyes of their mind and the eyes of their heart on Him. “Seeing” with the eyes of understanding. Not understanding with the limited understanding of human learning, but with that human learning capability (instilled by The Creator) enabled by the revealing of the nature and purposes of The Creator, by The Creator, so that humanity can “see” and “know” The Creator. For those who do not choose to “see”, that revealing is not provided. Without a knock, the door remains shut. No opening. No invitation to come in. But The Creator remains.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

This is the point, lean not to your own understanding! Realize that you do not and cannot know all things. Trust in The Lord, The Creator, The Intelligence of all intelligence. Trust that He does know and is willing to show what He knows to you (as far as you are able to know at any given time). Allow Him to be The One Who opens the eyes of your understanding and you will “see” what He is showing you. You see, He is past understanding. Above and beyond it. Humanity doesn’t know what it doesn’t t know. Humanity can never know the extent of the knowledge contained in the Creator. Humanity is the created, not The Creator. Were it possible, then The Creator would not be a Creator at all, but merely a replicator of what already was. The insinuation being that humanity is capable to be the creator with enough time and knowledge. But where does that time and knowledge begin? Did humanity exist before time and knowledge? Lean not to your own understanding! Trust The Lord with all your heart! Not your mind. There are plenty of things that make no sense to us humans, but trust that The Lord makes sense of it all. Let your heart, your emotions and passions, be guided by The Lord of Scripture. The Word made flesh. The only written record humanity has to speak to it in terms of understanding and knowledge. The Bible. There are many records that speak of these things, but none that claim to be the very Word of God. Lean into that. Believe that it is and the Lord of Scripture will reveal Himself in so many ways.

There is no way to know The Lord except to want to believe that He is and that He will reveal Himself to you because He created you to have a relationship with Him. Like a father to a son, parents to children. The closest of relationships. Blood. Family. And because of the DNA of that family, the glory of all that makes it up. Every facet. The unity that stands through the good, bad and ugly and proves itself by love to be true and unchanging. This is Christ.

Ephesians 3:14-19 (KJV) 14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what [is] the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Ephesians 4:21-24 (KJV) 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
